In the Caribbean, a LNG ship ties up to an unloading facility and unloads its cargo into a regasification plant. The gas then is transported via a pipeline to a power plant where it is burned in gas turbines to make electricity for the national grid. The waste heat from the gas turbines is used to generate steam to power a steam turbine to generate even more electricity for the grid. In South America, a hydro electric plant is being rebuilt following a landslide. When completed, it will add its power to the country’s grid.
